A church worth finding at the corner of 4th and Grand

United Methodist Youth (UMY)

     YOUTH BACK FROM MISSION TRIP!

We made it back from our mission trip to Nashville with lots of memories, stories, and friendships! There was never a boring moment! We were split into work crews named after famous country music singers, each group was paired with other churches from different states such as Florida and Illinois. The "Reba" crew included Chase Curtis, Alan Sites, Allison Sites, Cade Bethea, Katlin Poor, and Bobby Bradberry. "Reba" worked at nursing homes, a food bank, with the homeless, and with veterans. According to "Reba" the food bank was intense, fast-paced work that kept them very busy! The "Johnny Cash" crew included Gunnar Stone, Kase Bounds, Nathan Parker, Dalton Gulker, Loren Marks, Riley Poor, and Elizabeth Bradberry. "Johnny Cash" worked at a nursing home by running a carnival, playing with at-risk kids, and working at a homeless center. At the homeless center, "Johnny Cash" organized food, clothes, and supplies.

After working hard at our work sites during the day, we had fun evening activities each night. We even got to go to the Hard Rock Café on Friday for lunch!

Each night we had services called, "Club." These services were a time to spend with our crews and our churches. There were funny skits, times to share our experiences, and extra special times with God. One night we spent our time at "Club" on the roof of McKendree United Methodist Church. What a beautiful view of downtown we had that night! We went to another Methodist church in Franklin, TN to be a part of their Wednes-day night youth service. A huge thank you to everyone in the congregation who helped us through donations, prayer, and encouragement. We couldn’t have served the people of Nash-ville without your support. Be at this Sunday’s worship service to see lots of our pictures and to hear more stories!

Blessings,

Elizabeth

to Garrett Law and Allison Sites for becoming 2010-2011 Southeast District Council on Youth Ministry Officers! Garrett was elected to be the treasurer and Allison was elected to be the reporter. They will be great representatives from our church to the Southeast District. Our church is so proud of you both!
