PURPOSES
The church library will be:
* a place to research for Sunday School lessons -- both for teachers and students
* a place to find help in dealing with problems that are faced in everyday life and the Christian viewpoint on them
* a place to find pleasurable reading material that can enrich the mind
* a place where children and teens can find good reading material that deals with Christian views of living.
The "Mess" is slowly disappearing...in the library. I am working on processing the large donation received from Grace and Bro. Larry. If there is something you are looking for that you cannot find, please let me know. I will be happy to get it for you. If you do borrow a book or a video or any item from the library, please take just a moment to complete the checkout card. I am trying to inventory the library collection to see what kind of weeding needs to be done. Those items not checked out will be marked “lost” and deleted from the library catalog.

The church library has several journal subscriptions with articles that might be helpful to you. Currently, we are receiving the Arkansas Methodist Newsletter, Campus Life’s Ignite Your Faith, Christianity Today, Focus on the Family, Guideposts, Jews for Jesus Newsletter, and Response Magazine.

Religious Literacy … What Every American Needs to Know … and Doesn’t by Stephen Prothero
The United States is one of the most religious places on earth, but it is also a nation of shocking religious illiteracy. Only 10 percent of American teenagers can name all five major world religions and 15 percent cannot name any. Nearly two-thirds of Americans believe that the Bible holds the answers to all or most of life's basic questions, yet only half of American adults can name even one of the four gospels and most Americans cannot name the first book of the Bible. Religion scholar Stephen Prothero makes the provocative case that to remedy this problem, we should return to teaching religion in the public schools. Alongside "reading, writing, and arithmetic," religion ought to become the "Fourth R" of American education. Complete with a dictionary of the key beliefs, characters, and stories of Christianity, Islam, and other religions, Religious Literacy reveals what every American needs to know in order to confront the domestic and foreign challenges facing this country today.

Visit our Library
It's easy to check out a book from our library. After you have made your selection, just write your name and the current date on the checkout card found inside the book. Place the card in the checkout box according to the first letter of your last name.
Books check out for 3 weeks and can be renewed by updating the checkout card.
When you have finished with the book, just place it in the black crate located under the card catalog cabinet. Library staff will check it in for you and retrun it to the shelf.
