CORNERSTONE CHORALE
Returning -- October 23
Cornerstone Chorale and Brass
2011 Tour
"I Make All Things New"
FUMC
7 p.m. Concert
Bruce Vantine’s Cornerstone Chorale & Brass, a widely acclaimed professional touring ensemble, will present a new production entitled “I Make All Things New” at FUMC on Sunday, October 23 at 7:00 p.m. We hosted this group in the fall of 2007.
The program features a unique combination of traditional chorale and instrumental music with narration – woven together with newly composed music themes.
Cornerstone is the creation of its conductor, Dr. Bruce Vantine, and consist of 31 professional vocalists, instrumentalist, narrators and staff currently on a 3 week tour including 18 performances in the central and eastern U.S. Members of the ensemble include experienced professional performers from all over the United States. The group is marking its 24th year presenting uplifting programs.
This engaging and uplifting program is designed to encourage people to live their faith at a higher level of commitment.
Each year, composer and conductor Bruce Vantine chooses a specific theme to develop, often from scripture. He chooses a variety of choral and instrumental pieces of music, collects quotations from both sacred and secular sources and composes musical interludes which develop thematically, somewhat like motion picture music. Vantine then carefully weaves all the elements together to create a seamless texture of music and the spoken word. The result is a kind of concert drama that encourages individuals to respond to the needs of others. Touching on religious, family and thanksgiving themes, the programs speak to relevant issues in our contemporary society such as poverty, homelessness, children’s issues, racial or religious tolerance and spiritual development.
A free will offering will be taken at the program to go toward expenses of the 2011 tour.

The Christian faith is grounded in the love and grace of God, experienced through Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
Theology is not just about God. It is also about us. We live out of our understanding of who we are in relationship to God, to one another, and to the world. The Christian faith is grounded in the love and grace of God, experienced through Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. The Christian life is our response to God’s love and grace.
The church calls our response to God Christian discipleship. Discipleship focuses on actively following in the footsteps of Jesus. As Christian disciples, we are not passive spectators but energetic participants in God’s activity in the world. Because of what God has done for us, we offer our lives back to God. We order our lives in ways that embody Christ’s ministry in our families, workplaces, communities, and the world.
